Chris Herren - The Herren Project

Tonight I went to The Waldner Performing Arts Center on the campus of York College of Pennsylvania for a presentation by Chris Herren on behalf of The Herren Project.  If you don't already know Chris's story He has written a book, had an ESPN 30 for 30 feature about his life, which starts as a hoops star McDonald's All-American in high School getting thrown out of Boston College for failing multiple drug tests getting a second chance from Jerry Tarkanian at Fresno St. then getting drafted in the NBA traded to his hometown Boston Celtics and throwing it all away with a drug addiction and suicide attempts. He basically told his life story and how bad decisions and some help from unlikely people he has been able to get sober for the last 7 1/2 years by telling his story hopes to help others. It was well worth the hour and half you get the chance I suggest going to hear him.  This presentation was so popular that they had to turn people away at the door as there wasn't enough space in the auditorium.  He didn't stick around after the presentation after taking question but I exited quickly and picked the correct direction I thought he might come out and saw a running Cadillac in 30 minute parking with a guy smoking next to it so thought I might be in the right area I was a couple minutes later Chris came out and signed an 8x10 and 2 cards for seemed to very pleasant and took his time pulling items into car to use the light when he signed then he was gone.
